Wedding Planning During COVID

Wedding planning during COVID is not what you had in mind when you dreamed of your perfect wedding day. Many couples have had to cancel and/or reschedule their wedding plans during the COVID pandemic. So many factors are at play when deciding what to do. Many states are now requiring a 14-day quarantine for out of state visitors. Venues have to limit seating capacity, and the way food is served is very different now. I know you never envisioned having to deal with the restrictions we are all now subject to. This is why there is an increase in wedding elopements and micro weddings among couples whose plans have been impacted this year.

Couples are choosing to elope, just the two of them. They are choosing a destination that is closer to home, or a destination that is open and currently welcoming visitors with minimal travel restrictions in place. One of the top international destinations couples are choosing is Mexico. Mexico has put safety and health protocols in place to ensure the well being of its visitors and does not require a COVID test prior to travel like some other tropical locations. Many of the resorts in the popular spots, Cancun, Cabo & Puerto Vallarta have already reopened. Couples are choosing to elope so they don’t have to limit the number of people who attend their wedding and will have a big wedding celebration with family and friends when it is safe to do so.

Another option couples are choosing is a micro wedding. Weddings that are much smaller in size, with only family or a few close friends attending. A destination wedding is perfect if you are choosing a micro wedding. Escape to someplace beautiful for a few days to a week, give your guests a much-needed vacation, and honeymoon at the same time. The options of outdoor venues are many; social distancing is easier to maintain and to keep everyone safe.

Wedding planning during COVID is not what any of us could have imagined. My heart goes out to all whose plans and lives have been impacted by this nasty virus.

A Romantic Getaway In Colorado

Located in southwestern Colorado at the foot of the San Juan Mountains, is one of my favorite places. The city of Durango is the perfect year-round destination. A combination of historical sites, natural attractions, and modern-day wonders, Durango is perfect for a romantic getaway in Colorado.

Add on a few nights in some of Colorado’s other must-see places, we can plan your personalized itinerary to include; Boulder, Vail, Denver, Steamboat Springs, Aspen, Telluride, Breckenridge, Colorado Springs, and Rocky Mountain National Park just to name a few. My top recommended adventure in Durango is to take a ride on an old fashioned steam train from Durango to the old mining town of Silverton, to see amazing scenery along the way.

Romantic Trips In The U.S.

Restrictions are starting to be lifted for domestic travel, and couples are asking, “where is the best place to honeymoon or have a destination wedding in the U.S.?” There are many locations closer to home that offers everything you could want; amazing scenery, wonderful accommodations, lots of activities, and are easier to get to. Two recommendations for romantic trips in the U.S. are Utah & the Grand Canyon.

Moab, Utah

Canyonlands National Park – Canyonlands is the largest national park in Utah, and its diversity is beyond the imagination. The easiest way to see the park is with a visit to the Island in the Sky district. The Island in the Sky offers spectacular views along the scenic drive. Hiking trails and four-wheel-drive roads give you access to backcountry areas.

Arches National Park – contains the world’s largest concentration of natural sandstone arches. Although over 2,000 arches are located within the park, you will also gaze upon colossal sandstone fins, massive balanced rocks, soaring pinnacles, and spires.

Dead Horse Point – Dead Horse Point State Park is one of Utah’s most spectacular parks. The view from Dead Horse Point is one of the most photographed spots in the world. Towering 2,000 feet above the Colorado River, the overlook provides a breathtaking view for as far as you can see.

Grand Canyon

The Trail of Time – The Trail of Time is a walking timeline trail that focuses on the Grand Canyon views and rocks to guide you. Ponder, explore, and understand the magnitude of this amazing place.

Bike the South Rim – Bicycling is a great way to experience the South Rim. Cyclists will enjoy approximately 13 miles of roads and trails that allow for more intimate exploration along the rim.

Desert View Drive – The Desert View Drive is a scenic road from Grand Canyon Village. Along the way, there are viewpoints, a Tusayan Museum, and ancient Pueblo ruins.
